You will be primarily responsible for researching and cataloguing the designated collections of Islamic art and material culture across Manchester Museums Partnership (Manchester Museum, The Whitworth, Manchester City Galleries), using the KE Emu collections management system. In addition, a small proportion of your time (approximately 5-10%) will be spent researching and cataloguing the Partnership’s South Asian collections (primarily relating to modern-day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh).

Through the provision of accurate and timely collections-based information, you will also support curators across the Partnership in the development of content for two major upcoming exhibitions:

• Midnight’s Freedom? The Partition of India [working title], scheduled to open in Manchester in 2017
• An Image of Islam, scheduled to open in 2019

The post is intended for either a new entrant to the museum profession or for an existing curator in the early stages of their career, and training in the collections management system (KE Emu) will be provided.
