Director Opportunity
Deadline – 1st July 2022
Cognitive Sensations is a community interest company that explores the technologies of our time through writing, art and science. Via thought-provoking curatorial programmes, we enable audiences to think critically about their relationship with technology and its impact on society.
We are looking for a new Director to lead the programming and development of Cognitive Sensations. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious curator or creative producer to take a leadership role, combining creativity, research and innovation into the future of our organisation.
Cognitive Sensations is formed by a team of remote volunteers, including a Director, Programme Coordinator, Researcher and Programme Assistant. Our activity is funded by grants and crowdfunding on a project basis, and is predominantly located online and in the North of England. We are in the development phase for our next programme exploring the relationship between technology and loneliness. Our current Director will continue at an advisory capacity, and will oversee project development for this programme.
This opportunity would suit an individual or collective with a passion in new media arts, cross disciplinary practice in art and science, and current issues in technology. It requires a proactive attitude, the ability to work independently and in a team, strong administration and project management skills, and experience in fundraising and budgeting.
Experience in programming and creative technology are also desirable, as well as strong skills in social media and marketing. We are interested in creative, ambitious, independent individuals, and welcome new skills and approaches to managing our team and activity.
To apply, please submit a CV and cover letter by Friday 1st July 2022. Conversations about the role and your suitability are recommended before applying, and can be organised via cognitivesensations@gmail.com.
Is this opportunity paid?
The role of Director is not a paid position, but all work funded through project activity may contribute as freelance paid work.
How much time will this role take?
Depending on the stage of the project, this role may change in its intensity. As a guide, you should be willing to engage in at least 20 hours per week. Due to its predominant activity being online, the role is very adaptive to the needs of the individual.
