Summary
Reporting to the Digital Manager, the Digital Assistant will be responsible for content creation (audio, photography and video) to support the continual development of the Hallé’s digital presence. There will also be the opportunity to gain experience in website maintenance, copy writing and web/social media marketing within a busy Communications department. The role will enhance and promote every aspect of the Hallé’s work including education and all of the Hallé’s ensembles.

Job description
The key tasks of the Digital Assistant are to:

  • plan, produce and deliver digital content covering all facets of the Hallé
  • play an active role in content creation, such as interviews, podcasts and filming live concerts
  • work as part of the Communications department on the digital promotion of concerts and events
  • provide technical support and a source of technical expertise for colleagues
  • assist the Digital Manager when required

Essential skills and abilities

  • proficient at video editing software, especially Final Cut Pro X
  • proficient at Apple Mac OS X and Windows 7 upwards
  • proficient at photo editing software such as Photoshop
  • proficient at audio editing software such as Audacity
  • confident operation of digital camcorders and digital SLRs, both technically and creatively
  • excellent communication skills with internal staff and external stakeholders, ability to communicate technical information to non-technical parties
  • experience and knowledge of other AV equipment for content creation, i.e. microphone, audio recorder and smart devices
  • good organisational skills, be able to multitask and prioritise workload when necessary
  • ability to work both unsupervised as well as part of a team
  • willingness to carry out tasks at short notice when necessary
  • desire to learn new skills
  • understanding and awareness of IP and copyright surrounding artists and performances
  • strong attention to detail, with a good eye
