About Didsbury Lantern Parade: Didsbury Lantern Parade is organised by the team behind Didsbury Arts Festival and will take place on the evening of 12th November 2016. It began in 2010 and has quickly become a key event on the local community and cultural calendar. It brings together people from different parts of the community for an evening of creative celebration, featuring beautiful lanterns, music and performance. It has recently grown out of the original venue of Fletcher Moss Park and will be relocated to Didsbury Park in 2016 where there is more space to accommodate the growing audience. The change of venue also presents an exciting new challenge to develop further this increasingly popular event.
Suitability: This role would suit a local, emerging, creative practitioner who can combine skills in practical craft (paper and wicker lantern making) with the creative and logistical management of outdoor events. Experience of working with a range of local community groups and volunteers would be beneficial in order to deliver a successful series of workshops in the run-up to the Lantern Parade event. Ideally based in the South Manchester area
Fee: £1,750 flat fee – including expenses (a materials budget will be made available)
Period of contract: 12th September – 18th November 2016
