Costume Maker, LIPA

Full-time, term time only. Fixed-term to 31st May 2016.
Salary equivalent to £15.29 per hour including an element of holiday pay.

You will support our Wardrobe Supervisor in the provision of costumes and related items for LIPA productions and the day-to-day operation of the wardrobe department resources, including an element of student supervision.

This will include making, altering, loaning, purchasing or hiring costumes, costume props, costume accessories, footwear and wigs for student productions to the requirements of the production.

You will have a degree in a relevant qualification such as costume construction or historical costume.

You will have at least two years’ relevant experience of making and altering costumes in a theatre environment, working under pressure and to tight deadlines. This includes knowledge of the day-to-day administration and operation of a wardrobe department, including stock keeping, the issue of consumables and loan equipment.

You will need to be able to work closely with staff and students and, ideally, have some experience of instructing/demonstrating.

The post is available from January to May 2016.
