Kirklees Museums and Galleries has successfully bid for money from the Arts Council England’s Museums Resilience Fund for a project to develop an innovative new business model for sustainable collections, with a focus on collections in unexpected places, the potential of volunteers, and the impact of heritage on well-being.

We are looking for committed, creative and enthusiastic team players with a passion for the impact museum and gallery collections can have on audiences and how collections can support income generation and sustainability. You will be able to engage effectively with people at all levels, including community groups, volunteers, friends organisations, businesses and higher education institutes. As part of the Sustainable Collections team, you will work with colleagues within the council and partners to identify, generate and coordinate a range of opportunities within Kirklees Museums and Galleries to help make collections sustainable and accessible.

Requirement for this job:

  • Experience of working in the museums and galleries sector;
  • Degree or demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge and experience;
  • Knowledge of museum documentation and loans systems, eg. MODES Complete;
  • Experience of working with successful community engagement projects;
  • Ability to manage activities across a number of museum and gallery sites;
  • Able to travel to various offices/locations across Kirklees.
