Call for young actor: Terriers, Royal Court Theatre

Deadline: Monday 11 July 2016.

The team are looking to cast a male role in ‘Terriers’ by Maurice Bessman. Playing age 15-16 but actors over 20 only. Native Liverpool accent essential, North West based only. Must have good dance/physical theatre abilities. The piece will tour schools and colleges around Merseyside.

Production dates: Rehearsals: w/c 5th September (2weeks) Performances: 6 weeks, September 19th – November 4th 2016.

Terriers explores the immense pressure young boys and girls are under from gang mates and girlfriends. The play throws up the moral dilemmas and life changing decisions that some young boys and girls have to make.

The show was originally commissioned by Merseyside Police in 2008 and to date over 150,000 young people from secondary schools across Merseyside have seen the play and studied the primary and secondary educational packages. Written by Maurice Bessman. Produced by the community department at Liverpool’s Royal Court.

Playing the age of 15, actual age MUST BE OVER 20. Gang member, a follower, and a little naïve. Dance/physical theatre abilities required.

Native Liverpool accent essential. Agreements: Royal Court Liverpool Trust contract, pay equivalent to Equity Minimum
