Unwrap the potential of art handling opportunities with Tate.

This is your chance to work in a vibrant and exciting environment – and further develop your practical skills. Tate Liverpool is one of the UK’s largest galleries of modern and contemporary art outside of London. Part of the Exhibitions and Displays department, the Art Handling team provides a range of technical services. Now we’re looking to strengthen and expand our team of casuals who undertake art handling and preparation for changeovers of the exhibitions and displays.

You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience as you construct partitions, plinths and display furniture, install and maintain art works under supervision and work with Audio Visual technicians on installations. You’ll also work closely with artists, curators, and conservators to ensure exhibitions and displays meet our high standards.

We’ll need you to hit the ground running on a number of technical projects, so experience of handling art works as well as skills in carpentry or joinery will be vital. A practical and pragmatic team player, strong on working to tight deadlines, you will be able to commit to working for five days or more at a time with advance notice. Experience of using powered handling and/or access equipment would be desirable and awareness of health and safety is essential.

Our jobs are like our galleries, open to all
