Art for Wellbeing Practitioners -Artist

Cartwheel Arts are looking to expand our Art for Wellbeing Practitioner Team to deliver our creative and wellbeing projects in Rochdale, Wigan and North Manchester.

Practitioners will be engaged on a freelance, project by project basis. Practitioners can expect up to 2 sessions per week. Each session (3hrs) is paid at £100 or £180 for a full day. Practitioners must be registered as self employed.
As an AfW Team Practitioner, you will need to share our passion for opening participation equally to all, irrespective of race, age, gender, faith, (dis)ability or sexual orientation, and for promoting the role the arts can play in social inclusion, regeneration, diversity and community cohesion.

Experience working with adults and/or young people with mild to moderate mental health issues. You will work with the Project Coordinator to devise projects, then lead sessions and develop the creative skills of participants and facilitate the production of final artworks. You will work with the Project Coordinator to curate and produce exhibitions, showcases or publications.

  • A creative individual with a range of visual art specialisms (such as textiles/ sculpture/ photography/ contemporary craft/ illustration/ drawing/ painting etc)
  • Excellent communication and administration skills.
  • We are especially keen to receive applications from artists who have experience using woodworking equipment.
  • Experience of curating, mounting and promoting exhibitions
