From Go Superlambananas…
Dear Artists and Designers
Happy New Year from everyone on the Go Superlambananas team!
Plans are progressing well to be one of the highlights of this year’s wide range of exciting events. The aim is that this spectacular, public art event will comprise of over 100 Superlambananas – designed and created by many of you – culminating in an Art Trail which will weave its way from the heart of Liverpool city centre into the communities and neighbourhoods across Merseyside.
Your participation and support is paramount as it will ensure that this event has artistic integrity; and that it showcases the true creative talent and artistic identity this city possesses. We encourage participation/ involvement from all art disciplines, and we aim to engage local communities to tell their stories using a specially designed Superlambanana based on Taro Chiezo’s iconic sculpture.
To date, we are delighted with the response that we have received to our Call to Artists as well as the support from many of Liverpool’s leading cultural institutions including John Moores, National Museums Liverpool and the Bluecoat.
To celebrate the story so far and to tell you more about our plans, we would like to invite you to attend an exclusive artists reception on Tuesday 5 February 2008 at 6.00pm at Static Gallery.
Featuring a live Superlambanana installation by Liverpool based painter Laurence Payot, the event will provide an opportunity for artists to try out some ideas on a number of interactive Superlambananas!
We also hope to preview a select number of the designs, so if you have not submitted your design already then please do so and we can feature it on the night.
Phil Redmond will be our guest speaker on behalf of Liverpool Culture Company. Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to Vanessa@wildinart.co.uk by Thursday 31 January to confirm your attendance.
We very much look forward to seeing you.
