North West Fashion Festival 2016

One of the many things Liverpool and its people are known for is how serious it takes its fashion. Getting dressed is more than just for comfort or convenience, it’s a statement. It’s how we express ourselves and a way to take pride in ourselves, we know how to look good.
So it only made sense that the North West Fashion Festival made its annual return to Liverpool at the equally iconic St. Georges Hall. Set, for the first time, over two days, it was more than just a runway show.
As well as being treated to performances by local singers, there were stands dotted around the venue giving the opportunity for fashionista’s to buy everything they needed; including glitter, skin care and winter accessories. There were also opportunities to learn new make-up skills with a master class by Kate Hayes, a separate area for VIP’s to be pampered, and a bar because what’s a runway show without a cocktail?
A different vibe on both days with Sunday being more child and family focused, one thing remained consistent, Liverpool’s designers stole the show. Mode Mwah’s dresses weren’t just dresses they were actual works of art, statement pieces just in time for the party season. With an earlier start than the day before, on Sunday it was the kids turn to show what they’re made of and they didn’t disappoint with their perfect walks and cheeky posing at the end of the runway unfazed by all the photographers. Headliner and local boutique Melanie Louise showing off their winter collection and finished the successful weekend with the Christmas collection.
It was hard not to feel inspired by the latest runway trends and ready for the party season and also feel proud of local and upcoming designers such as KU Spendlove, Miss Francesca Couture, Patty Fashion and Leigh Taylor.
An event all fashion lovers across the region look forward to and even attracting local celebrities, the North West Fashion Festival didn’t disappoint.
This weekend proved that the regions talent is growing and getting stronger and will no doubt continue growing. I’m sure the organizers have already started planning next year’s spectacle and are looking forward to seeing how much bigger it can no doubt get.
