Mike McCartney Luvs St George’s Hall

The launch event for Mike McCartney’s exhibition of his photographs featuring St George’s Hall was packed out and Mike was in fine form with his humorous anecdotes, posing for numerous pictures and signing exhibition catalogues.

The exhibition is in the Catacombs of St George’s Hall, an interesting area that has not been open to the public before which gives added interest to visitors.

There are 60 images spread across the corridor and a few small rooms including the ‘McCartney Gallery’. They span the decades from the 1960s when Mike was a member of the Scaffold who had several publicity shots taken utilising the Hall’s exterior.

Mike’s ‘luv’ of the St George’s and, indeed, Liverpool shines through these pictures along with his sense of humour not only in the images but also the captions which are quite informative too. For instance, I never knew that the Duke of Wellington statue is made from…
