After 11 years of “DIY scribbling, sculpting, printing and animating”, local artist Laura Spark is embarking on a Masters in Animation at the Royal College of Art.
To celebrate her time in Liverpool Laura is exhibiting models and sets used in her animation work as well as prints, workings and doodles.
The exhibition features the set and models of ‘The Counsel of Owls’ (made to accompany the song by Mike Kenney) and others such as the hare from ‘Lepus Fagus’ and the skeleton man from ‘Dr Sparkophogus’. You can also see original artwork from music videos such as ‘You Gotta Work’ by Pete Bentham and the Dinner Ladies.
Before you visit, take a look at the showreel video below which has short clips of her work as well as all her other videos online at Vimeo. Then when you meet the characters up close you can better appreciate the invention, skill and magic that Laura puts into her work. (The showreel is being projected on the wall of the venue but is not very clear in the daylight).
There are prints for sale too including ‘TEAISM’ shown below.
Straight after this exhibition Laura will be off to London, we wish her all the best and look forward to seeing more of her work (in Liverpool) after completing her Masters.
