  Grammar School
DESCRIPTION:AN EXHIBITION OF YEAR 9 AND 10 STUDENTS’ WORK WHICH HAS BEEN
SELECTED FROM THREE GCSE ART SPECIALIST COURSES TAUGHT AT WEST KIRBY GRAMM
AR SCHOOL.\n\nThe Art Department at West Kirby Grammar School consists of
three teachers\, who are all subject specialists and a part time technicia
 n. At Key Stage 3\, students study art for two lessons a week in Year 7 an
d one lesson a week in Years 8 and 9. They develop their artistic knowledg
e and skills using a sketchbook. In lessons\, they learn techniques in dra
 wing\, colour theory\, painting\, collage\, textiles\, wire sculpture and
graphics.\n\nThey offer three GCSE courses of Fine Art\, Textile Design an
d Graphic Communication\, which are popular option choices usually consist
ing of two fine art groups\, one to two textile groups and one graphic com
munication. These courses offer the development of specialist skills\, whi
ch can lead to building knowledge and skills for design related careers.\
n\nAt A-level\, they offer Fine Art and Textile Design\, with both subject
s developing work through a themed coursework portfolio. A personal invest
igative study enables students to develop their own interests at A-level.\
n\nThe exhibition is within The Williamson Cafe and we have a busy weekly
Thursday morning session for under fives in the space so might be an idea
to avoid that time if you wish to look at the work closely. The following
exhibition will be from Woodchurch High School.\n\nDownload our WAG WM Mar
c Apr 2017 Newsletter for more information about other exhibitions on show
and coming. Please note that the gallery is closed on Mondays and Tuesday
