SUMMARY:Williamson Art Gallery & Museum: Williamson Art Gallery & Museum: L
ife Line: Photographs by Jonathan Cooper
DESCRIPTION:Life Line: Photographs by Jonathan Cooper\nSeptember 2nd – O
 ctober 28th 2023\nWilliamson Art Gallery &amp\; Museum\, Birkenhead\nWirr
al-based photographer Jonathan Cooper exhibits unique perspectives on West
Kirby’s waterfront.\nLife Line exhibits two photography series based al
ong the West Kirby waterfront. Employing magical realism and unique printi
ng techniques\, Cooper’s photographs place their inhabitants in a dreaml
ike world.\nCooper’s photographs transform physical environments into im
aginary worlds. From his unique perspectives\, the paths of the people out
and about on the promenade and Marine Lake appear to interact in impossib
le\, unexpected ways. He captures his subjects from some distance\, and th
eir apparently small size draws our attention to the subtle details of the
ir actions and movements\nCooper began these series when the old West Kirb
y promenade still existed\, and these photographs also track the developme
nt of the new flood defence wall.\nWilliamson Curator Niall Hodson comment
ed:  "I am delighted that the Williamson will be showcasing this collect
ion of contemporary photographs. Jonathan Cooper's images of West Kirby ar
e by turns magical\, absorbing\, puzzling and witty. Cooper's patient obse
rvation of people and places along the waterfront encourages us to look at
the Deeside horizon of West Wirral in a new light."\nLife Line will run a
 t Williamson Art Gallery 2nd September – 28th October.
