SUMMARY:Williamson Art Gallery & Museum: Williamson Art Gallery & Museum: T
 he Green Gallery
DESCRIPTION:NOT AN EXHIBITION BUT A NEW SPACE. NURTURING ROOTS &amp\; SHOOT
S TO GROW THE GREEN GALLERY AT THE WILLIAMSON.\n\nAt the centre of the Wil
liamson Art Gallery is an enclosed courtyard\, currently known as The Qua
 d. Did you know the space was there?\n\nFor almost 90 years\, this outsid
e/inside heart of the gallery was derelict and without purpose. The buildi
ng lacked a secure outdoor area and the planned garden offered the potenti
al for a usable and adaptable outdoor space\, considerably increasing the
attractiveness of the gallery. The new space will offer a green haven to v
isitors\, local residents and anyone who needs a moment of quiet\, as well
as providing a venue for family celebrations and corporate events.\n\nO
ur aim is to bring this space\, ‘The Quad“\, into use as The Green G
allery\, where all visitors can sit freely to enjoy the plants and sculptu
re\, or even to take inspiration from the surroundings for their own artw
ork. Designed by Ainsley Gommon Architects\, the hard landscaping has be
en installed by the Landstruction team to create a secure outdoor space
for celebrations\, events and exhibitions. The Green Gallery continues to
evolve and the next phase of fundraising is focussed on raising monies for
a planted and landscaped ‘Secret Garden’ which will commence next spr
ing and be undertaken by Landstruction. \n\nThe Wirral Museums Service\
, fully supported by the Friends\, provides summer courses for children a
nd also works with disadvantaged groups including people with mental\, se
nsory and physical difficulties so an outside “break-out space” will b
e a major and essential asset.\n\nWe need your support to turn this idea i
nto a growing\, living\, blooming wonderful space. We have been very succe
ssful in getting local sponsorship and grants but we have also attracted i
ndividual donations from the public. So far The Williamson and Priory Fr
iends have received funds through gallery donations\, JustGiving\, BAFT
A gala ticket sales and charitable donations from Aviva Charities Trust
\, Bathgate Trust\, Camden Trust\, Duchy of Lancaster and Postcode Lo
ttery fund as well as financial support from Wirral Borough Council.\n\n
To donate to The Quad Appeal personally\, please donate through our Just G
iving account\;-\n\nFund raising for the FRIENDS\n\nor donate within the g
allery\, using one of our special envelopes. Please don’t forget to fill
in the requested\n\ndetails for GIFTaid and posting them into our donatio
n boxes around the gallery.\n\nTo organise a corporate fundraising event w
ithin the gallery to raise money for the Quad or to sponsor a specific par
t of the development please contact the charity:- Williamsonandprioryfrien
ds@gmail.com or ring and leave a voice message on 0151 666 3665\n\nYour co
ntribution will be acknowleged on our ever growing vine in the cafe\, with
hand made leaves made by Friends and instigated by our membership secreta
ry\, Pat Foden. The leafy structure will hopefully be updated soon but we
are concious of making demands on curatorial staff’s time to assist with
frequent updates so please bear with any delays.\n\nSTOP PRESS: PHASE ON
E has been completed with hard landscaping …paths and raised\n\nbeds cre
ated and hard stand for seating area.\n\nFURTHER STOP PRESS: Phase Two fu
ndraising has been completed: We have now raised enough money for the plan
ting and now looking for funding for benches and lighting.\n\nFURTHER Furt
her STOP PRESS: Phase three underway with a great donation from a private
fund….more needed but many thanks…\n\nFollow the signs in the gallery
to view and admire the hard landscaping.\n\nTo download our information f

nity for friends\, colleagues and businesses to get involved\, please clic
