SUMMARY:Williamson Art Gallery & Museum: Williamson Art Gallery: Herdman an
 d the Local Scene
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition runs Wednesday 20 January 2016 - Sunday 13 March 201
6\n\nThe Williamson Art Gallery will be exhibiting the paintings of Herdma
n\, an English author and painter\, known for his scenes of the Liverpool
area from January 20th until 13th of March 2016.\nWilliam Gawin Herdman (1
805-1882) was a vigorous opponent of the Pre-Raphaelite tendency in Liverp
ool’s Academy. He took very seriously his mission to document Liverpool
as it changed into a bustling Victorian town.\n\nHerdman and his children
provided the images of both Liverpool and its surroundings that informs al
l our perceptions of how things used to look and that provide the referenc
e points for how it looks today.
