a contemporary designer bike created from laminated wood by the Spanish c
ompany – Cyclowoodwho make unique bicycles from precious woods such as
ash\, teak\, walnut and cedar. It takes more than 80 hour just to apply th
e varnish. This has kindly been lent for the display by FINSA UK\, based
in Birkenhead Docks.\n\nThe exhibition includes the classic ‘penny-farth
ing’ (or ‘Ordinary’) bicycle\, and a selection from the late 19th c
entury alongside 20th century designs.\n\nThe exhibition runs from 11th
May until 22nd September – spanning the season of cycling events in Wi
rral and will run concurrently with the Six Vessels exhibition exploring
the stories behind the history of shipbuilding in Wirral.\n\nThis exhibit
ion is produced in collaboration with the Borough of Culture: Wirral 2019
part of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.\n\nThere will als
o be a historic bike suspended within Birkenhead Park Visitors’ Centre.
Visitors may be interested in combining their visit to the Williamson for
a visit to Wirral Tramway &amp\; Wirral Transport Museum.\n\nFor more ex
hibitions at the Williamson\, check out our Events pages.
