SUMMARY:Williamson Art Gallery & Museum: Williamson Art Gallery & Museum: F
 ellowship in Retrospect
DESCRIPTION:Private View: Friday 6th October 6:00pm-8:00pm\nExhibition cont
 inues: Sat 7th Oct - Thurs 30th Nov 2017\nOpen Wed - Sun 10:00am - 5:00pm\
n\nThe WMC Fine Art Fellowship provides graduating students with the oppor
tunity to continue and develop their practice for a further year. The Fell
ows offer their support and recent experience to several areas of curricul
um delivery. This may be in the form of contributions to option modules or
studio seminars and more informal mentoring of undergraduate students. Th
ey are seen as an additional presence in the studio and operate between st
aff and students providing advice and guidance to current students at all
levels.\n\nThe fellowship emerged in an informal way during the late 1990
’s. Each year would see a very different type of practice being deployed
by that particular fellow. As the millennium approached the Fine Art Team
at Wirral Met decided to create a more formal recognition of the fellowsh
ip role. A ‘job description’ was devised and a number of fellowships w
ere identified within specific areas of practice\, Printing\, Sculpture an
d Painting. In this way the fellowship students have had a long and signif
icant impact on the studio experience of undergraduates. The exhibition se
eks to track their individual journeys from the fellowship year to their c
 urrent practice.
