SUMMARY:Warrington Museum & Art Gallery: Warrington Museum & Art Gallery: P
ip Woolf - Matter of Identity
DESCRIPTION:PIP WOOLF: MATTER OF IDENTITY\n\nFREE\n\n\n\nThis body of work
began with artist Pip Woolf asking the question: “what can I learn about
myself from being alongside others who are living with a diagnosis of dem
entia?”\n\nPip spent a year as artist in residence in an EMI Care home\,
5 years alongside her friend and neighbour who was in the last stages of
Alzeimher’s. She then worked with scientists at Division of Neuroscience
and Experimental Psychology\, University of Manchester\, and at Cardiff U
niversity Brain Research Imaging Centre and had her brain scanned at Unive
rsity College London.\n\nPip’s researches offer an answer to the initial
question\, confirming the value of play and improvisation\, reminding her
of the creative energy embodied in our individual differences and a reali
sation of the enduring nature of identity. Matter of identity is a celebr
ation of what it is to be human.\n\n\n\n
