As a B lack woman studying for a history degree in Liverpool\, the main thing tha t was missing from the curriculum was - well me and my history. Being invo lved in museum projects gave me the space to explore and develop my passio n for Black British history – particularly for Black British women’s h istory. I also used my creativity to create cultural products like the 'Se eds of Change' zine and the 'Civil Rights and Freedom Fights' card game al ongside artists and historians.\n\n \;\n\nGetting involved in museum p rojects also taught me about heritage and museum work as I met a whole bun ch of amazing museum nerds like myself.  After working on museum projects with the Slavery Museum I felt empowered to get my Masters in Museum Stud ies. I now work in education at the International Slavery Museum. This opp ortunity has been beneficial to both my personal and professional developm ent.\n\n ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.artinliverpool.com/wp-content/upload s/2022/01/black-achievers-wall-girls-1080x720-gareth-jones.jpg LOCATION:Walker Art Gallery\, William Brown Street\, Liverpool\, L3 8EL\, L iverpool\, United Kingdom GEO:53.409412;-2.980352 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=William Brown Street\, Live rpool\, L3 8EL\, Liverpool\, United Kingdom;X-APPLE-RADIUS=100;X-TITLE=Wal ker Art Gallery:geo:53.409412,-2.980352 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VTIMEZONE TZID:Europe/London X-LIC-LOCATION:Europe/London BEGIN:STANDARD DTSTART:20211031T010000 TZOFFSETFROM:+0100 TZOFFSETTO:+0000 TZNAME:GMT END:STANDARD END:VTIMEZONE END:VCALENDAR
