SUMMARY:Walker Art Gallery: Walker Art Gallery: Tom Wood - Documenting your
  Day: Psychogeography Collages
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nTom Wood - Documenting your Day: Psychogeography Coll
ages\n\n\n\n\nTom Wood\, originally trained as a painter\, often had exper
imental and creative ways of capturing his subjects\, and was often descri
bed as an art photographer. In this series of workshops\, we will experime
nt with and explore alternative ways of documenting observations and memor
ies\, inspired by some of the themes that underpin the work of Tom Wood. P
articipants will get to explore these through discussions\, interactive ac
tivities\, and creating a response in the form of an art piece.\n\n\n\n\n\
n\n\n\n\nPhotographers are experts in observing\, and capturing\, the worl
d around them\, and giving the viewer a glimpse into specific times\, plac
es and memories. Inspired by Tom Wood’s ability to document and present
his surroundings\, participants will be invited to creatively think about
doing the same through other forms.\n\nPsychogeography is defined as “Th
 e geographical environment of a particular location\, typically a city\, c
onsidered with regard to its influence on the mind or on behavior”\n\nHo
w do our surroundings influence our behaviors\, feelings\, and thoughts? M
any photographers have explored psychogeography in their work\, capturing
changing spaces and how they influence the people that occupy them.\n\nThi
s workshop will include a series of activities that will allow participant
s to explore\, interpret\, and be inspired by the concept of psychogeograp
hy and art photography\, followed by a session creating an artwork inspire
d by the outcomes. No photography or art experience is required to join us
  for this creative and thought-provoking session.\n\n1.00 - 2.45pm\n\n\n\n
