SUMMARY:Walker Art Gallery: Walker Art Gallery: Tom Wood - Documenting your
  Day: Portrait of a Place
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nTom Wood - Documenting your Day: Portrait of a Place\
 n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTom Wood\, originally trained as a painter\, of
ten had experimental and creative ways of capturing his subjects\, and was
often described as an art photographer. In this series of workshops\, we
will experiment with and explore alternative ways of documenting observati
ons and memories\, inspired by some of the themes that underpin the work o
f Tom Wood. Participants will get to explore these through discussions\, i
nteractive activities\, and creating a response in the form of an art piec
e.\n\nPhotographers are experts in observing\, and capturing\, the world a
round them\, and giving the viewer a glimpse into specific times\, places
and memories. Inspired by Tom Wood’s ability to document and present his
surroundings\, participants will be invited to creatively think about doi
ng the same through other forms.\n\nTom Wood was prolific for capturing hi
s environments\, and in particular Liverpool - this body of work is even r
eferred to as a “Portrait of Merseyside”. This session will allow part
icipants to explore how they might visually represent a place they’re co
nnected to in experimental ways\, and create their own non-conventional po
rtrait. No photography or art experience is required to join us for this c
reative and thought provoking session.\n\n1 - 2.45pm\n\n\n\n\n\nBook ticke
 ts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
