DESCRIPTION:Past Present Future: Celebrating Craft\n18 May 2021—Until Mar
ch 2023\n\nCelebrating the creative flair of makers with links to the Nort
h West\n\nThe Walker continues to celebrate craft\, showing the best of ou
r collections\, together with stunning loaned works. In the Craft and Desi
gn gallery\, we commemorate 50 years collecting craft with impressive cera

ter Layton\, Lucie Rie and our latest acquisition Pleat from metalsmith Fr
ancisca Onumah.\n\nStephen Dixon has built an international reputation for
ceramics with social and political themes and recently won the British Ce
ramics Biennial AWARD. In room 11 at the Walker\, he now shows new pieces
from his “Maiolica and Migration” series\, with a retrospective select
ion of earlier works. Dixon’s work is displayed in dialogue with the his

ore powerful stories of refugee journeys and conflict.\n\nLiverpool-based
designer and furniture maker Hugh Miller continues to show his iconic drin
ks cabinet\, In Shadows together with Dining Chair no. 7 in the Craft and
Design gallery. Miller is heavily influenced by his time researching craft
 smanship in Japan.
