SUMMARY:: Turner Townsend Gallery: Not Necessarily in That Order: Paul Mell
 or
DESCRIPTION:Not Necessarily in That Order:\n\nNarratives\, episodes and sto
ries.\n\nThis exhibition takes its title from comments made by the French
 film maker Jean Luc-Godard. ‘A story should have a beginning\, a middle\
, and an end... but not necessarily in that order.’\n\nTelling stories i
s a human compulsion. Interpreting signs is a human skill. Perspectives an
d interpretations differ. Events become skewed or viewed in very different
ways. Information is partial or fragmentary. Films\, TV and more recently
the various platforms on social media take advantage of our desire to see
what happens next.\n\nIn this exhibition the viewer becomes the story tel
ler. The artist present the images but the narrative is completed by the v
iewer.\n\nPaul Mellor makes reference to emotional experiences through cin
ema\, art history and popular culture. John Rothwell creates compulsive st
ory lines out of moments of anxiety and personal challenge. Jay Chesterman
explores the public/private world of social media and celebrity in a ‘p
 ost truth’ world.\n\nVincent Lavell\nCourse Leader\nBA Fine Art\nExhibit
ion Continues until 17th February 2017\n\nTurner Townsend Gallery\nWirral
