 m is pleased to present Aftertaste. A group exhibition featuring works by 
 Juliet Fleming\, Kieran Leach and Robyn Nichol curated by Hannah Tolmie.\n
 \n‘Have faith in your own bad taste’ – John Waters\n\nAftertaste see
 ks to ask the audience to question to what constitutes bad taste through t
 he presentation of the artists work\, involving themes of saturation and p
 lay.\n\n--\n\nJuliet Fleming\n\nFleming is Co-Founder and Director of M I 
 L K Collective\, an artist-led collective based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne aim
 ing to provide a platform for emerging artists to exhibit.\n\nJuliet Flemi
 ng is an artist living and working in Newcastle. Fleming’s work seeks to
  question stereotyping\, particularly in class &amp\; taste\, gender\, ove
 r-indulgence and self-indulgence\, often through wordplay. Fleming often m
 akes work in response to online articles and the work that is produced can
  be read as a physical embodiment of her feelings of uneasiness in a patri
 archal dominated society.\n\nKieran Leach\n\nKieran Leach’s work explore
 s the culture of the everyday\, online and art world. Which are abstracted
 \, condensed and often satirised\; reflecting the aesthetic impact and per
 vasive reach of digital technology. From playful sculptural forms to modif
 ied ready-mades\, his work employs bold aesthetics informed by conceptual 
 rigour and with a dash of humour thrown into the mix.\n\nBased in Manchest
 er\, Leach’s recent exhibitions include Stick or Twist\, Castlefield Gal
 lery\, Manchester\; Concrete Picnic\, Camp and Furnace\, Liverpool: Compan
 ions\, The Grundy Art Gallery\, Blackpool. He was also shown by Castlefiel
 d Gallery at The Manchester Contemporary\, Manchester (2016).\n\nRobyn Nic
 hol\n\nRobyn Nichol is an artist based in Lancaster\, who focusses on them
 es of heritage\, identity\, locality and industry. She aims to capture a s
 ense of Northern identity. Focussed upon Yorkshire’s historical textile 
 industry and the artists’ family background\, Nichol questions the relev
 ance of historical identity in contemporary society using her experiences 
 and identity to influence her practice.\n\nCurator – Hannah Tolmie\n\nHa
 nnah Tolmie is an artist based in Liverpool and a studio member at The Roy
 al Standard. Her practice explores ideas of taste and the superficial faç
 ade\, using methods of seduction and distraction. These ideas are explored
  through the consideration of an object's perceived value of attraction an
 d satisfaction. Tolmie has recently worked as a Curatorial Trainee at the 
 Liverpool Biennial and also as an artist assistant for Mette Sterre.\n\nht
