Art Club St Helens meets every Saturday, 10am-12pm
AUG/SEPTÂ PROGRAMME:
10/8/24Â
Mandala art: Mandala means “circle”. First originated in the first century BCE in India. Create any piece you like, either large or small. Perhaps use a template or compass to start off your design….. there are lots of examples of this colourful art on the internet and Pinterest. The world is your oyster.
17/8/24
Create a piece either in the style of your favourite artist or your interpretation of a painting by your favourite artist – Matisse, Van Gogh, Turner, L. S. Lowry, pre – raphaelite, impressionism, are a few suggestion.
24/8/24
Pleats, folds and shading in fabric: A very challenging subject but one which deserves to be practiced. Bring in a piece of interesting fabric or garment. I can’t promise but I will do my best to put something together to wear on that day and am happy to sit as a model! I will confirm nearer the time.
31/8/24
The Summer Garden: In all it’s glory at this time of the year – either floral or vegetable. For inspiration see Paul Cousin’s large piece by the desk in reception at TWOG. Look at the extremes of natures colours / shapes and form in it’s summer abundance. This topic would suit itself to the abstract form.
7/9/24
Shoes: A fantastic subject – find a pair you love, either boxed or positioned. Child’s or babies shoes / worn out work shoes / wellies / slippers, again the choice is endless.
14/9/24
Interiors:Â Look at the interior of a room, perhaps a pub or bar with all the bottles or a cafe with a stainless steel coffee urn. You could include crowds or couples or you could simply draw or paint a favourite room or area in your own home – a work bench / art room / sewing room / garage area.
21/9/24
Life Drawing session:
I’m trying to introduce an occasional life drawing class with a live, nude model. I am aware that some members of the group may not wish to participate so have arranged that modesty screens be placed in the room so that those not taking part can get on with a piece of their own choice on the day. I think this should work quite well – we’ll give it a go and see how it works. There will be a minimal additional charge for those who chose to participate.
