SUMMARY:The Gallery Liverpool: The Gallery Liverpool: The Wonder of it All
DESCRIPTION:The Wonder of it All\nConstructed industrial and temporary bota
nical landscapes\nby Josie Jenkins and Jacqui Chapman\nFriday 30th Septemb
 er - Thursday 6th of October 2016\nThe Gallery Liverpool\nFirst Floor\, Th
 e Courtyard\, 41 Stanhope Street\, Liverpool\,  L8 5RE\nOpen every day 1p
 m - 5pm\nPrivate View Thursday 29th September 6pm - 9pm\n\nIn this exhibit
ion artist Josie Jenkins and Jacqui Chapman bring together work with contr
asting visual subject matter\, underpinned by concurrent themes.\nSince un
dertaking residencies in China\, Jenkins has made work responding to the i
ndustrial landscapes that she experienced there.  The work in this exhibi
tion extends to the themes of consumerism and the order and control which
is present in our manufactured world.\nChapman’s recent work references
how we consume nature and in particular flower shows\, where man-made inst
allations display sensational excess that lasts just a few days and how th
is behaviour contrasts with historical collectors of the 16th century.\nFo
r both artists a response to landscape has developed into an examination o
f wider issues and questions\, resulting in a pop-up show where nature mee
ts man and art mimics human behaviour.\nThis exhibition is open for one we
ek only and will include extra events throughout the week\, news of which
will follow soon.  The Private View is open to all.\nwww.thegalleryliverp
