 ths and hidden government agendas in her latest book\, Secrets and Silenc
 e: Uncovering the Legacy of the Cleveland Child Sex Abuse Case. \n\nIn 19
 87\, the Cleveland Child Sex Abuse scandal shook the UK as 121 children we
 re removed from their parents care due to allegations of sexual abuse made
  by two paediatricians at the Middlesbrough Hospital. The scandal was a de
 fining moment in child safety legislation. However\, it was not the scanda
 l we were led to believe it was. Beatrix Campbell’s Secrets and Silenc
 e: Uncovering the Legacy of the Cleveland Child Sex Abuse Case\, empowers
  unheard voices of those who were embroiled in the scandal and shares thei
 r stories in their own words. \n\nBeatrix will be in conversation with L
 iz Kelly\, British professor and director of the Child and Woman Abuse St
 udies Unit\, London Metropolitan University. \n\nBeatrix Campbell is an 
 award-winning journalist\, broadcaster\, writer\, and influential feminist
 . She is the author of Wigan Pier Revisited\, End of Equality and many o
 thers. She writes about politics\, crime\, community\, gender\, child abus
 e and sexual politics and has co-authored two plays with Judith Jones. Cam
 pbell was active in the Women’s Liberation Movement as well as campaigni
 ng in the equal rights pay strike and occupation in 1981. Her many awards 
 include the Cheltenham Festival Literary Prize\, Fawcett Prize and several
  honorary doctorates for her work on community\, crime and child welfare\,
  as well as an OBE for services to equality.   \n\nElizabeth A. Kelly C
 BE is a British professor and director of the Child and Woman Abuse Studi
 es Unit\, London Metropolitan University\, former head of the (now defunct
 ) Women’s National Commission\, and co-chair of the End Violence Against
  Women Coalition. Liz is a professor of sexualised violence and holds the 
 Roddick Chair on Violence Against Women\; she also holds a PhD in Sociolog
 y and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Politics. \n\nWednesday 29th
