DESCRIPTION:POSITIONS OF POWER – An exploration of who/what holds power t
 oday.\nA bold new exhibition opening this month at Liverpool's Tapestry Ga
 llery tackles issues of power in a series of diverse compelling photograph
 s.\nDisparity Collective's #Positions of Power examines both direct and so
 metimes unconventional power\, with photographers Keeley Bentley\, Drew Fo
 rsyth\, Claire Griffiths\, Mark Hobbs\, Abbie Jennings and Conrad Ohnuki q
 uestioning and challenging what "power" means in 2018.\nThe exhibition has
  been created as part of Redeye's Lightbox project\, an intensive year-lon
 g course which seeks to launch the careers of professional photographers t
 hrough workshops\, networking sessions and support from experts in the pho
 tography industry.\nMentored by Manchester Art Gallery curator Kate Jesson
 \, the seven artists have worked through a programme designed to challenge
  assumptions\, encourage reflection and nurture artistic potential. #Posit
 ions of Power is the working outcome of the work so far.\nThe exhibition a
 nd installation feature large format prints\, as well as custom designed n
 ewspapers\, all framed within Liverpool’s newest arts venture\, Tapestry
  Gallery\, in the heart of the Fabric District\, Liverpool.\nThe exhibitio
 n is open to the public for just five days\, from March 24 to March 28 a
 nd a lead-in event to The Disparity Show in The Baltic Triangle for The Li
 verpool Biennial Fringe Festival in July. The works feature a diverse set 
 of people and places approach to photography\, combining varied background
 s and understandings.\n‘Disparity Collective\, mentored by Kate Jesson C
 urator of Manchester Art Gallery\, is one of the three formed groups that 
 have come out of this year’s Lightbox course. We are delighted that they
  have already begun work on the first in progress exhibition at Tapestry G
 allery in Liverpool and look forward to seeing the photography they have c
