An introduction into how to creating your own characters and bringing them to life through stop motion animation
An introduction into how to creating your own characters and bringing them to life through stop motion animation. Perfect for beginners, the workshop will include an introduction to accessible animation software for tablets/ phones. Participants will also get inducted into making a simple wire armature and how to animate using a camera, including applying basic animation principles.
Art materials to create characters and scenes will be provided – including wire, cutters, plasticine, cork, card and additional materials. Please provide any materials you are particularly interested in using to make a new character.
Participants are encouraged to bring tablets or phones, which they can use to capture their animations, as well as any artwork and/or objects they wish to animate or materials they wish to work with.
About Laura Spark:
Laura Spark is a visual artist working in stop motion animation, film and performance and is a studio member at The Royal Standard. Laura lives in Liverpool where she creates visuals for theatre and music videos, as well as working with local community projects. In 2018 Laura was commissioned to create a visual performance, The Untuning of the Sky with Laura Cannell for York Mediale and participated in Flat pack Film Festival’s artist development programme, Waveform, funded by Jerwood Arts
