SUMMARY:The Royal Standard: The Royal Standard: Primordial Sauce
DESCRIPTION:Primordial Sauce\, EMKI\n\n28th November - 5th December 2024\n\
 nOpening Times: 12-6pm\n\nPRIVATE VIEW: 28th November 6pm-10pm\n\n@the.pri
mordial.sauce\n\nAt once naive and technically accomplished\, EMKI’s obs
essively generated pieces manifest human complexity and fears\, through re
presentations of destructive natural forces\, vibrant abstract landscapes
and nurturing archetypal protectors.\n\nFueled by experiences of psychosis
in his early 20s EMKI invites us to venture into an interactive teeming u
niverse of psychedelic colour\, utopias and underworlds\, featuring a comp
lex system of deities\, guardians\, monsters and demons.\n\nEMKI transitio
ns between media: from intuitively produced colour pencil drawings\, to ch
ild-like impasto canvas\, thickly applied charcoals and bold sculptural wo
rks made from industrial waste - his works restlessly document his persona
l cosmology\, experiences with divinity and deep emotional connection to h
is subjects. \n\nWith influences spanning from Jean Debuffet\, Robert Nav
a and the Fauves to outsider art\, cave paintings and indigenous craftsmen
\, Primordial Sauce represents the culmination of a lifelong fascination w
ith art-as-magic\, global religious iconography and EMKI’s own struggle
to integrate his experiences of ‘piercing the veil’.\n\nPrimordial Sau
ce\, EMKI’s first solo show\, encourages the viewer to validate and exam
ine their own psycho-spiritual experiences as a potential source of meanin
g\, peace and creativity.\n\nEMKI (1993-) was born in Wallasey and has exh
ibited internationally. In the development of this show\, he has worked wi
th local drag artist and TRS studio member Brendan Curtis @eatmeclub for c
uratorial and technical support.\n\nFor access enquiries / contact:   @em
