SUMMARY:The Lake Gallery: The LAKE Gallery: Earth’s Murmurs
DESCRIPTION:Earth’s Murmurs\nTwo artists\, working with very different me
dia\, explore their emotional connection to the landscape\n\nBridget Green
 wood\nValerie Wartelle\n\nThursday 11th April – Saturday 11th May\n\nOpe
 ning times: Thurs – Sat\, 10am – 4pm\n\nBridget Greenwood is a contemp
orary abstract artist based in Cheshire\, whose paintings explore her fasc
ination with the landscape. Colour has always been Bridget's starting poin
t and is central to her work.  She sketches outside to record the moment\
, but her paintings are completed in the studio where they go through many
stages before she feels that she has kept the essence whilst reducing and
paring back the landscape to shapes and marks.\n\nWorking with fibres and
textiles\, Valerie Wartelle’s practice is rooted in the traditional cra
ft of wet felting and the manipulation of textiles as an expressive art fo
rm.\n\nTaking the rural environment as her inspiration\, she draws on its
colour\, texture and form to create evocative semi-abstract landscapes ric
h in climate. The compositions are built in layers\, hinting at what may l
ie beneath\, and use translucency and light to create absorbing moods. The
se are highly textured felt pieces in which cloth is embedded and threads
unravelled\, as a painter with her brush.\n\nThe gallery will be hosting a
preview evening on Thursday 11th April between 6pm and 8pm. All\nwelcome.
\n\nYou’ll find the LAKE gallery in the heart of West Kirby\, a couple o
f minutes from the train station.\n\nThe LAKE gallery\n52 Grange Road\nWes
