 hrough a Modern Lens)
DESCRIPTION:Southport: Double Take (Old Southport Through a Modern Lens)\nS
 at 8 December – Sat 1 December\, Mon - Sat 10am – 4pm\nFree entry\n
Local photographer Matt Dodd has blended historical photographs of Southpo
rt with images from the present to give a unique window into the past. Mat
t began his project by researching archival imagery on Sefton Council’s
Digital Archive\, which holds a large collection of photographs and docum
ents portraying aspects of life in Sefton across the centuries. He also wo
rked with early glass negatives that were re-discovered when the Botanic G
ardens museum relocated to The Atkinson in 2013. Matt\, a photographer for
over 10 years\, has been working on this collection of blended photograph
s for the past 18 months\, encouraged by a great response to the images he
posted on social media. The exhibition at The Atkinson features a collect
 ion of 40 blended photographs.
