 Discover the next generation of artists in The Atkinson’s Sefton Young A
 rtist of The Year competition.\nThe Atkinson in partnership with The Arts 
 Society Southport invited Young Artists aged 11-18 living in the Sefton Bo
 rough to submit one photograph of an original artwork to the Sefton Young 
 Artist of the Year competition\, exhibited on The Atkinson’s website.\nW
 ith over 120 entries received\, the competition showcases the emerging tal
 ent in Sefton across a variety of artistic practices. The competition winn
 ers were announced on Thursday 28 May and awarded prizes donated by The Ar
 ts Society Southport.\nJemma Tynan\, Exhibitions and Learning Officer\, Th
 e Atkinson\n‘A huge congratulations to all the young artists who sent in
  their artwork for The Young Artist of The Year Competition. Their creativ
 ity and talent challenged the judges and they took many things into consid
 eration to decide the winners and commended works. Thank you to The Art So
 ciety Southport for their sponsorship and support.’\nBeatrice McIntosh\,

 heir events provide welcoming places to hear expert lecturers share their 
 specialist knowledge about the arts. Their members contribute to and prese
 rve our artistic heritage through volunteering and grants. Their work crea
 tes a better\, healthier and more connected society.\nThe Borough of Cult
 ure is awarded by Liverpool City Region to either Halton\, Knowsley\, Liv
 erpool\, Sefton\, St Helens or Wirral on an annual basis. The initiative w
 as introduced in 2018 to allow each borough to provide cultural programmes
  for local communities. In 2020 Sefton’s Borough of Culture programme fo
 cuses on storytelling\, local history and the environment.
