 s an annual exhibition celebrating the creativity and artistic talent acro
 ss the borough of Sefton. For the first time\, The Atkinson is pleased to 
 be showcasing this year’s Sefton Open in a digital exhibition.\nThe call
  for artists was open to all practitioners who live\, work or were educate
 d in Sefton. Artists were invited to submit one digital photograph of thei
 r artwork\, with all practices welcomed\, including ceramics\, sculpture\,
  painting\, textiles and photography.\nStephen Whittle (Principal Manager\
 , Museum\, Gallery &amp\; Operations) said:\n‘It’s great to see that p
 eople across Sefton are still creating such wonderful and thought-provokin
 g artworks. Even though our Borough of Culture celebrations have been curt
 ailed for now\, the fantastic response we have had from people right acros
 s the borough demonstrates how important cultural activity still is in kee
 ping us connected.’\nThe exhibition is supported by The Atkinson’s lon
 gstanding partner\, Southport Palette Club\, as well as many other local g
 roups\, each showcasing their skill and artistry.\nJemma Tynan (Exhibition
 s and Learning Officer) said:\n‘It is very exciting to launch the Sefton
  Open Exhibition online and connect our community and the wider world with
  the wonderful talent of Sefton artists during this time.’\nSelected art
 works are available to purchase through The Atkinson and the Own Art Schem
 e.\nPartners\nThis exhibition is part of Seton Borough of Culture 2020. Th
 e Borough of Culture is awarded by Liverpool City Region to either Halton\
 , Knowsley\, Liverpool\, Sefton\, St Helens or Wirral on an annual basis. 
 The initiative was introduced in 2018 to allow each borough to provide cul
 tural programmes for local communities. In 2020 Sefton’s Borough of Cult
 ure programme focuses on storytelling\, local history and the environment.
