SUMMARY:Tate Liverpool: Tate Liverpool: Torkwase Dyson - Liquid a Place
DESCRIPTION:Walk amongst monumental sculptures which explore how water is c
onnected to Black history.\n\nLiquid a Place is inspired by the sailing ro
ute between Europe\, West Africa and the Americas upon which millions of e
nslaved Africans lost their lives. The curved edges of the sculptures echo
the hull of a ship and have triangular voids within them that represent a
gateway or shelter. Shown in our ground floor gallery\, this artwork reca
lls the history of the water and docks which surround Tate Liverpool.\n\nT
his artwork was first exhibited at Tate Liverpool as part of Liverpool Bie
 nnial 2023.
