SUMMARY:Tate Liverpool: Tate Liverpool: Larry Achiampong Statement: Relic T
 raveller
DESCRIPTION:LARRY ACHIAMPONG STATEMENT: RELIC TRAVELLER\n\n15–21 JANUARY
2018 AT 10.00–16.50\n\n\nJoin us in Tate Exchange for the screening of n
ew multi-disciplinary project\, Relic Traveller\, from artist Larry Achia
 mpong.\n\n\n\n\nThe work manifests in performance\, audio\, moving image a
nd prose. Taking place across various landscapes and locations\, the proje
ct builds upon a postcolonial perspective informed by technology\, agency
and the body\, and narratives of migration.\n\nThe series builds upon idea
s in Achiampong’s practice whilst taking new approaches\, marrying lingu
istic threads and an original synth-based soundtrack with open cinematic l
 andscapes.\n\nThe title-character is featured\, moving between locaations
across a seemingly desolate United Kingdom. Uncovering fragments of audibl
e data as if they were clues to a forgotten Empire\, the Relic Traveller
soon finds themself in an atmosphere that simultaneously delivers poetic
moments of the sublime met with harrowing\, claustrophobic tales of traum
 a.\n\n
