DESCRIPTION:Course: Home from Home\n\nDate: Tuesday 18 April - Saturday 27
 May (10:30-13:30)\n\nVenue: Clore Learning Studio\, Tate Liverpool\n\nUsin
g the art in Tate’s national collection as a starting point\, we will co
nnect local migrant communities to each other and the city-wide cultural o
ffer. The project aims to improve the confidence and self-esteem of partic
ipants and help to reduce some of the isolation they may encounter\, by de
veloping new skills and widening their social infrastructure and networks.
\n\nParticipants will explore Tate’s international collection displays a
nd exhibitions\, identifying artworks in the gallery that resonate with th
em. Throughout the programme participants will build confidence to deliver
a short public talk\, sharing their responses to the artworks in their ow
n language and English.\n\nThrough creative activity and ESOL exercises pa
rticipants will acquire the tools to interpret the collection and to speak
fluently about their selected artwork\, while developing their own interp
retations. Positioning learners as guides\, they will be supported and enc
ouraged to deliver a short gallery talk to their local communities\, invit
ed audiences\, and members of the public.\n\nInteraction with local arts o
rganisations\, museums and community-led projects will be an integral part
of the programme\, connecting participants with local community assets an
d the wider cultural offer in the city\, expanding their networks and frie
 ndships.\n\nTo sign up email: Alison.jones@tate.org.uk
