SUMMARY:Tate Liverpool: Tate Liverpool: The Alchemy Between Us
DESCRIPTION:THE ALCHEMY BETWEEN US\n\nSunday 11 – Saturday 17 December 20
16\n\n10.00–17.00\n\nWhy do people need artworks? Artist Laurence Payot
presents a week-long series of videos\, texts and workshops acting as cata
lysts for discussion and exchange. Questioning the value of art and how it
helps to make sense of the world\, The Alchemy Between Us aims to explore
the communicative potential of art. Laurence Payot works with communities
to create collective events and objects that respond to and engage with s
pecific places. Participants are given tools to connect with other people
and experience their everyday lives from an out-of-the ordinary perspectiv
e.\n\nVisitors are invited to the following events:\n\nTHE ALCHEMY BETWEEN

to discuss ways in which viewers or participants are integral to their pr
actice\, or indeed necessary to the completion of works. With a focus on p
ractice\, the discussion is aimed at artists wanting to share their skills
for initiating collaboration and involvement. Acknowledging that art can
be socially-engaged without the need for participation\, studio-based arti
