DESCRIPTION:SPEKE UP\nPAST PRESENT FUTURE\n27 MAY – 2 JUNE 2019 AT 11.00
 –16.00\n\nA vision of hope in the mid 1900’s\, today Speke is home to 
 some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK. Statistically sufferin
 g from higher than average levels of multiple deprivation but home to a st
 rong and proud community Speke has a voice to be heard.\n\nIn 2018\, Speke
  adventure playground commissioned artist Ruth Dillon to deliver a year lo
 ng residency. Art as activism and art as empowerment became the themes whi
 ch would enthuse the community to create artworks and platforms to transce
 nd spaces both internally and externally.\n\nWith a programme of films\, d
 rawing sessions\, word jams and discussions\, Tate Exchange will become a 
 refuge for art activism. Young members of the Speke community will become 
 curators\, guiding you through a landscape of words and image\, encouragin
 g visitors to explore beliefs about Speke\; crime\, identity\, people\, so
 cial inclusion and social exclusion\, share your memories and thoughts and
  add content to the debate and dialogue.\n\nProgramme\n\nTuesday 28 May\, 
 15.30-17.30\n\nAn open forum and discussion led by young people exploring 
 issues of culture and diversity with specially invited guests including Cu
 lture Liverpool\, Merseyside Police\, Liverpool City Council.\n\nWednesday
  29 May and Friday 31 May 12.00 and 15.00\n\nPlay an interactive art game 
 which will explore your beliefs about crime\, police\, identity\, social i
 nclusion and social exclusion. An open fun forum for debate and dialogue.\
 n\nThursday 30 May\, 11.00-16.00\n\nAll day drop in sessions\, led and co 
 created by young people with community organisation Writing on The Wall.\n
 \nSaturday 1 June\, 12.00 and 15.00\n\nShare stories and histories in this
  open community consultation on culture and diversity.\n\nSunday 2 June\,
  11.00-16.00\n\nAll day drop in. creative activities including creative wr
 iting\, spoken word jam and a discussion on identifying and understanding 
 the impact of crime.
