SUMMARY:Tate Liverpool: Tate Exchange: Forgotten Futures
DESCRIPTION:FORGOTTEN FUTURES\n4–10 MARCH 2019 AT 10.00–17.00\n\n\nMemo
ries\, Maps and Movement - an applied theatre project in dementia care\n\n
\n\n\nForgotten Futures – Memories\, Maps and Movement is an arts inter
vention project conducted in nursing homes in Liverpool city\, where peopl
e living with dementia tell their stories (both reminiscent and imaginativ
 e) about their relationship with the city of Liverpool. The project explor
es themes of place\, identity\, maps\, and how the movement of people - th
e disperse in particular - colour the fabric of any given city and ask big
ger questions about patterns and placing of people globally. The city as a
contested public and private space will be explored though movement\, inf
ormed by the stories collected\, and given an embodied response from gradu
ate dancers. Their interaction with city space will be filmed\, shown and
form a central part of the presentation. The project also explores the art
of cartography and how the brain reflects the intricacies of map making.
The architecture of the city and the architecture of the mind will be expl
ored through movement and storytelling.\n\nThe city is seen as a blueprint
 \, a topography\, a map – reviving\, disrupting and making memories.\n\n
The public will interact with film\, images\, storytelling performance and
discussions\, all of which are informed by insights offered from people l
iving with dementia in nursing homes. The overarching aim of the project i
s to integrate\, and give recognition to\, a minority sector of our commun
ity\, where their voices can still be heard in a public domain. This proje
ct is designed to be intergenerational in approach.\n\nWith Liverpool Hope
University\, Hope Graduate Theatre Company\, Dr Niamh Malone\, Dr Kris Da
 rby and Dr Sarah Black.\n\n
