SUMMARY:Surtsey Projects: Surtsey Projects: Rory Macbeth X Passive Aggressi
 ve Collaborative Systems
DESCRIPTION:Rory Macbeth X Passive Aggressive Collaborative Systems\n\n02/0
3/2017 19:00 - 21:00\n\nPlease join us for our fourth event at Surtsey Pro
jects.\n\nRory Macbeth has created a light and sound installation through
the process of trying to force administrative IT systems to engage in a co
llaboration with him. These algorithms\, such as automated phone lines and
information sharing systems\, often use the language of collaboration to
disguise their hierarchical power structures. You are invited to join us f
or a disco at Surtsey Projects\, which will undermine the power structures
of these systems and question the nature of collaboration.\n\nYou can vie
w a trailer for the event here.\n\nRory Macbeth is an Artists based in Liv
erpool. He is currently Head of Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores Universi
ty and has previously exhibited at Tate Britain (London)\, Spike Island (B
ristol) and Aarhus (Antwerp).\n\nPassive Aggressive Collaborative Systems
are administrative systems which are part of the infrastructure of busines
s\, government and education. They have been active since the early 1990s.
