SUMMARY:The Arts Centre: Studio theatre: Cegin y Capel: The Chapel Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:Cegin y Capel: The Chapel Kitchen\n\n3rd Jun 2018 - 1:00pm - 2:
00pm - book here\n\nBuilding on the performance Cartref presented at last
year’s Festival of Ideas\, Cegin y capel documents a short series of per
formance interventions located in chapel kitchens in Liverpool and North W
ales.  Set in 1929 when foundations for the resurgence of Welsh National
Identity were being laid\, Cartref explores Wales’ most influential comm
unity\, the Liverpool Welsh\, by foregrounding the hidden histories of the
ir women.\n\nUsing this performance work as its focal point\, Theatr Gadai
r Ddu will be hosting a series of community cooking events where participa
nts will be encouraged to work together in the local chapel kitchen to pre
pare a celebratory tea party.  Accompanied by an exhibition of artefacts
from the Liverpool Welsh community\, each Cegin y capel event is designed
to facilitate a sharing of community and individual narratives.  This ins
tallation will collate aspects of this ‘tour’.
