SUMMARY:Staacks: Staacks: “Wirral Shoreline” by Christine Holme
DESCRIPTION:“Wirral Shoreline” by Christine Holme\n\nMy watercolour pai
ntings take the shorelines of West Kirby and Thurstaston as their starting
point. The west facing coast of the Wirral is a wonderful place to study
the ever changing sands and tides of the Dee estuary.\n\nThe north Wales s
horeline in the distance acts as counterpoint to the interplay of light be
tween the sky and the vast expanse of the estuary sands that I try to capt
ure in paint. For each painting\, I might produce several versions. I do l
ots of preliminary work and experimenting to get me to the place where pai
nting becomes instinctive.  At that point\, I want to express the joy of
mixing colours and applying paint. That’s when painting  becomes absolu
te pleasure. The final versions\, painted with confidence\, are what I cho
 ose to show.
