SUMMARY:Staacks: Staacks: Stillness and Movement by Julie Lawrence
DESCRIPTION:‘Stillness and Movement’ by Julie Lawrence\n\nMy practice h
as its roots in Romanticism and the painting language of Turner\, Blake an
d Palmer.\n\nI work intuitively and instinctively in the way that I respon
d to the landscape and coastal scenery and am interested in the ephemeral
and transient relationship between light\, movement and matter.\n\nThere i
s a sense of liminality which runs throughout my work which invites the vi
ewer to find a still centre and quiet psychological territory\, bordering
the threshold between nostalgic association and something unknown.\n\nI ha
ve exhibited widely across the UK and was recently awarded North of Englan
d Artist of the Year at the National Open Art Competition in London.
