SUMMARY:Staacks: Staacks: Changing Land\, Elaine Adams
DESCRIPTION:Changing Land\nELAINE ADAMS\n\nBA Hons Graphic Design\n\nPrivat
e Viewing:  Friday 3rd March 2017 from 7.30-9.30pm\n\nA rugged and windsw
ept landscape or coastline and the fleeting effects of light on colour imp
acts strongly on my work. I strive to capture this in my work and to prese
nt the viewer with a connection to the spectacular landscape found within
and around the British Isles.\n\nThis body of work\, ‘Changing Land’\,
draws on the foreshores and estuaries around the west of Britain and atte
mpts to record the patterns created by changing tides\, weather and light
as the land is reshaped and reclaimed.  The light and flow of the land is
manifested through the colour\, composition\, and materials selected to c
apture the landscape before me.\n\nWorking initially in sketchpads\, I rec
ord the land with initial drawings and colour references on site\, develop
ing this work back in the studio using British and Norwegian pure wools\,
flax\, linen and silks.  This exhibition also includes paintings which st
and alongside the ‘painterly’ fibre work to provide the audience with
greater insight into my relationship with the great British landscape.\n\n
