SUMMARY:Heart of Glass: St Helens: Heart of Glass: Envisaging Futures
DESCRIPTION:Working with collaborators from Buzz Hub\, St Helens\, artist R
udy Loewe has developed a new public artwork you can spot on the streets.\
n\nEnvisaging Futures is a new public artwork enveloping Buzz Hub’s comm
unity van. The graphic artwork created by Rudy with a community of disable
d adults from St Helens represents the personalities at Buzz Hub and highl
ights invisible disabilities.\nUplifting and representing different kinds
of bodies\nCollaborators created original pieces using techniques like mar
bling\, painting\, drawing and building from clay over a series of worksho
ps. Rudy then collaged these designs together to create a unique artwork f
or the van.\nThe original artwork will be kept by Buzz Hub and form part o
f an exhibition later next year.\nRudy Loewe has worked with communities i
n St Helens before (including Buzz Hub through the Shielding Voices zine p
roject)\, and has been a collaborator of Heart of Glass since 2020. They t
ypically work with painting\, drawing\, printmaking\, text and sometimes p
roduce comics. Rudy is interested in social dynamics and histories\, polit
ics and uplifting and representing different kinds of bodies in their work
\, through community engagement. For Rudy\, bringing conversations to spac
es where they might not otherwise be heard is really important.\nAbout Buz
z Hub\nBuzz Hub is an organisation dedicated to creating opportunities whi
ch support the independence\, involvement and contribution of disabled peo
ple within our community. They listen to their members to develop activiti
es which reflect their wishes\, dreams and aspirations.\nEnvisaging Future
s gives people from across St Helens the opportunity to experience ‘art
on the move’\, part of a wider programme of public art which includes mu
rals in the town centre and beyond.\nMore information
