DESCRIPTION:TREE WALKS OF SEFTON PARK WITH ANDREA KU\n\n\n\n\nTREE WALK #1:
  WINTER TREES\nSUNDAY 21 JAN / 1–3PM / SEFTON PARK\nIntroduction to wint
 er trees in Sefton Park – a winter walk to identify some key evergreen a
 nd semi-deciduous trees in Sefton Park. Discover what trees there are\, wh
 y do some trees have leaves on all year round\, what these leaves look lik
 e. Also what insect\, bird and mammal species do these trees provide that 
 others cannot. It is also Squirrel Appreciation Day and we will talk about
  the park’s squirrels and their lives. We will be calculating the age an
 d height of the trees using simple measuring tools and tag those trees wit
 h the information as well as the species name.\nREGISTER HERE\n\nTREE WALK
  #2: DECIDUOUS TREES\nSUNDAY 18 FEB / 1–3PM / SEFTON PARK\nIntroduction 
 to deciduous winter trees in Sefton Park – a winter walk to identify som
 e key deciduous trees in Sefton Park. Discover what they are\, why they lo
 se their leaves and how to identify winter trees through leaf litter\, bar
 k patterns\, twigs and buds. We will also be hanging some ready made and h
 ome made bird feeders. We will be taking bark rubbings of the trees to sho
 w the textures and ages of trees.\nREGISTER HERE\n\nTREE WALK #3: EARLY SP
 RING\nSUNDAY 17 MAR / 1–3PM / SEFTON PARK\nIntroduction to early spring 
 in Sefton Park – a walk to discover the plants and insects that have beg
 un to emerge and call Sefton Park their home. We will discover the new tre
 e flowers\, why trees produce flowers\, what is pollination and who Sefton
  Park’s pollinators are. We will do a bee walk to find the habitats and 
 forage of different bee types and species.\nREGISTER HERE\n\nTREE WALK #4:
  MID SPRING\nSUNDAY 21 APRIL / 1–3PM / SEFTON PARK\nMid spring walk in S
 efton Park – a walk to discover mid spring birds\, bees and trees and th
 e value they have in Sefton Park to the park as a whole and to our health 
 and wellbeing. During the walk\, we will talk about the history of the Sef
 ton Park landscape and why we have ‘wilder’ areas today. We will visit
  some of the more hidden ‘off the beaten path’ areas of the park to se
 e the different habitats the park provides and learn how the wilder\, over
 grown areas are good for nature. We will also look at what plants grow in 
 these areas\, discuss ‘what are weeds’ and the value that wild/weedy a
 reas are to a formal park.\nREGISTER HERE\n\nTREE WALK #5: CITIZEN SCIENCE
 \nMONDAY 20 MAY / 6–7.30PM / SEFTON PARK\nCelebrating Sefton Park’s 15
 2nd birthday!\nWe will take a citizen science walk through the park to ide
 ntify and record tree\, bee\, plant\, bird and mammal species in the park.
  We will also talk about the differences between them and where they are o
 n the tree of life (and where we as humans fit into that!)\nREGISTER HERE\
 n\nFurther Information:\n\n– Meet at the cafe next to Eros Fountain by t
 he side ramp entrance.\n\n– All sessions: Please feel free to bring alon
 g your cameras or phones to capture the trees and what they offer for wild
 life in the park.\n\n– Please wear appropriate clothing for each walk. T
 he ground may be slippery\, muddy or wet and the temperatures in January a
 nd February may be very cold.\n\n– During spring\, there may be chances 
 of high pollen ratings so please take precautions if you suffer from hay f
 ever.\n\n– If we get over 25 people in a group\, there may be difficulty
  hearing Andrea. Please be aware of this if you are hard of hearing.\n\n
 – Andrea will provide laminated handouts to be used during the walks for
  participants to refer to.\n\nSubmit your Tree Story:\n\nThese walks are p
 art of a project that invites the public to help us create a history of th
 e Liverpool City Region through its trees. Its resilience\, strength and i
 ts diverse and fascinating story.\n\nWe want this project to grow and expa
