Obs ervational drawing is about really looking at the world and what better pl ace to start than the Sefton Park Palm House. This three hour workshop giv es you the opportunity to learn some basic techniques to help you draw fro m observation\, try some different materials and express what you see thro ugh drawing. The workshop is open to people of all ages and levels of expe rience.\n\nThe day will include:\n\n Short introduction about drawing fro m observation\, what to expect from the workshop and some examples of work by relevant artists for some inspiration.\n Introduction to and exercise s around measuring\n Different drawing techniques\, e.g. using line only\ , using tone only\, cross hatching\, drawing with a rubber.\n Experimenti ng with different materials\, papers and scales.\n Group feedback and dis cussion.\n\nTutor: Josie Jenkins\nJosie studied Fine Art (painting) at Nor wich School of Art and Design\, graduating in 2002. She has worked as an a rtist based in Hull and Nottinghamshire before settling in Liverpool. In 2 010 Josie joined Arena Studios in Liverpool and became an active member\, volunteering as the Arena Gallery Manager since 2011 and as a director bet ween 2011 and 2013. In 2011 Josie was featured in the BBC2 television seri es "Show Me the Monet" and was selected by a panel of judges to show her w ork in the show's accompanying exhibition at the Royal College of Art\, Lo ndon. More recently Josie has been represented by Castlegate House Gallery \, Cockermouth and The Corke Art Gallery\, Liverpool. In September 2013 Jo sie was selected for the New Lights Art Prize and won the main prize\, the Valeria Sykes Award.
